Celaena Sardothien is the king’s Champion—yet she is far from loyal to the crown, for the man she serves is bent on evil. But working against her master in secret is no easy task. As Celaena tries to untangle the mysteries buried within the glass castle, she can trust no one, not even her supposed allies Crown Prince Dorian, Captain of the Guard Chaol, and foreign princess Nehemia.

Then, an unspeakable tragedy shatters Celaena’s world. She must decide once and for all where her loyalties lie . . . and whom she will fight for.

Crown of Midnight is SO MUCH better than Throne of Glass.

If you don’t know Throne of Glass, here would be a better place to start. I LOVE both books and I highly recommend reading them if you’re still sitting on that metaphorical fence. Come on, I cried reading this. I get very emotional when reading, but it was never like this. I imagined a kickass action packed Crown of Midnight (which is true), but I was not prepared for THE TEARS.

I need to quote Haymitch here– “Last year was child’s play. This year, you’re dealing with all experienced killers.”

ToG gave us bits and pieces of information which got clearer in CoM, and when things finally fit into the big picture, HOLY SHIT. If Throne of Glass was kind of an iffy spark for you, here is a wicked, burning, hungry WILDFIRE. Celeana’s like a huge ball of rage ready to rampage everything between her and the people whom she must protect.

I know I said I was Team Chaol on my ToG review. Well.

STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!!!!

Have you read this? Did you like it? Planning to read it? I am crazy excited for Heir of Fire!! I have so many questions after that ending?! I’d love to hear what you think!

  1. OMG you have finally finished that book! I have been hoping for a review like this from you. And about the Team Chaol ship, I KNOW RIGHT!!!! Not my ship has become nonexistent as I am in the middle.

    • Hehe thank you!! So flattered :) On this matter of ships, I’m usually very certain where I am because I hate being ambivalent and floating about fandomspace not knowing where I stand. But… CoM… How does one choose?!!

  2. Accurate gifs are accurate. And I totally bawled too xD I couldn’t NOT cry after all that! And that quote from Haymitch – PERFECT. Mhmm, so much sexier.

I was shipless in ToG, and switched to Chaol in CoM, then I was Team Sam in TAB, but now I’m undecided as of HoF. TOO MANY POSSIBLE SHIPS IT’S KILLING ME.

    • Thank you, Kayla! Yeah I was NOT expecting my self to be D’: and that hit me really hard in CoM. Had to shut the book and recuperate for a few moments. Ms Sarah J. Maas is making all of us so conflicted with all the hot boys emerging left and right. AHHHH. Reading TAB now, and I’m really afraid to fall for Sam because I KNOW IT WILL SINK. I STILL WANT TO BE ON IT. CRIES.

  3. I FREAKING LOVE THIS SERIES!!

Oh man, the ships. They’re just ridiculous. I feel like I keep swapping every book and it’s just like SARAH COULD YOU PLEASE STOP WRITING IN SO MANY SWOONY BOYS, I FEEL REALLY FICKLE. :P First possibly Dorian in the first book (because he gave her a puppy. A PUPPY.) then sort of Chaol towards the end of the first book, and CoM, and Sam in TAB and now in HoF I think I ship her with someone else… :/

And dude yes Nehemia. TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! I was just like, wait…what…WHAT?!

lol sorry for all the caps. BUT THIS SERIES DESERVES CAPS! :P

    • Love your enthusiasm, Nara :D LOL YES EXACTLY ABOUT THOSE SHIPS!!!

To be honest, I’m not sure I was happy to hear that yet another love interest was introduced in HoF, there is no way to handle the feels I’m having about this love triangle already!!

  4. I totally understand your feelings:)I was mind blown by the book.Celeana is one of the best heroines I’ve ever read.
And about the ships..*sigh*…Sarah is really playing with her readers’ minds,I guess.I was team Chaol from the first book itself, and my feelings didn’t change in this one.But after reading Assassin’s Blade,I was rooting for Sam and Celeana’s love.
And now in Heir of Fire,it seems as if another love interest is introduced.I am completely confused over this.I am a huge Chaol lover,so I don’t think my heart can bear to see Celeana with another guy.

    • WHOO YES Thank you Sarah J. Maas for teaching us that girls can kick serious ass while having nice hair! ;) I just finished The Assassin’s Blade last week and omg… SAMMMMM. I WILL NEVER BE OKAY. There’ll always be a place in my heart for him ♥ After CoM, my love for Chaol was seriously shaken up and I’m equally parts excited and worried for the new love interest in Heir of Fire too! Thank you for the comment, Mishma :))

      • Exactly! We need more girls like her in YA.
I am really worried about Heir of Fire.I don’t think I am going to read the book, though I know it will be amazing.
